Widgets: expiry dates on your home screen

The most important question about your stock is: what expires soon? The "expiring soon" widget answers it right on your home screen – without opening the app. Available for iOS and Android.

The two widget sizes

• Small: one big number shows how many items are due in the next 7 days – plus the most urgent product
• Medium: up to four items with a countdown ("today", "tomorrow", "in 3 days")

What the colors mean

• Red: overdue – check first
• Orange: due today
• Yellow: due within the next three days

If nothing is due, a green check mark shows "Nothing expiring soon" – the best state a pantry widget can be in.

How to set up the widget

iOS: long-press the home screen, tap the plus in the top left, search for "Smantry" and pick a size. Android: long-press the home screen, choose "Widgets", find "Smantry" and drag the widget where you want it.

Tip: put the widget on your first home screen page. The casual glance when unlocking replaces deliberate checking – that's how the routine forms that stops things from expiring.
